Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells

Well it is that time of year again when we Aussies pretend that we are in the northern hemisphere with snowflakes, reindeer, and spruce rather than dust, heat and water restrictions. In saying that though, we can wear slinky gowns and dance the night away without freezing! So yes... it comes, tha annual work Christmas party. The theme this year... "black and white". In my abundance of free time (choke) I decided to make my gown and as you may see it is in the audrey hepburn/jackie kennedy style... ie vintage vogue. I am quite proud of it myself... What do you think?

The only problem was... I was in a rush on the night and we forgot to the the "final photos"... so I dressed up the next day so pose for the paparazzi! (I flatter myself)

The beginnings.....

Wow! Time flies when you have a full-time job!

Whilst I slowly come to the realisation that time does not in fact stand still, I also find it has been over 2 weeks since I last posted! I therefore look back on the "invisable" time and discover... a full-time job is very time consuming! I must say though... and for the record I enjoy my work, so that is compensation for time lost, grey hairs earned and lack of sleep and family time. I did promise to mum that I would show her photos of the unit so please go here for photos on Don's site: http://picasaweb.google.com/donald.shepherd. (our little piece of sydney). I spent today in a microsoft outlook training session, which besides being a change of scenery and work conditions was actually pretty useful - hirely recommended for anyone really. Looking forward to the weekend.. Catherine (my best friend from university) is visiting Sydney - and our little unit (I will have to clean up :P) so that will be good :) Hmmm... not much else... so until next time... live long and prosper

Being sick is no fun!

My poor boy. my poor poor boy! Being sick is no fun. The poor thing has been sick for 3 days straight, which includes 2 trips to the local medical center. There is nothing worse than not being able to help the people you love, except fluids, rest and more fluids. Not being able to snap your fingers and make everything better.

Hmmm... I certainly am a newbie to this. It is rather un-nerving to expose your thoughts of the day on a public forum for others perusal. I think I will get used to it though. Lately, since the release of the "Superman Returns" movie, I have found myself reverting back to my teenage years by watching episodes of "lois and clark", and finding it somewhat different 10years or so on. I think it does have a positive influence though, my boy wants to get better so as he doesnt have to endure the torture of watching any more episodes. I think that is a good idea too since more often than not he is making the comment "hmmm... who do I know that does that?" or "who does that remind me of?"... as if I am a lois lane... I mean REALLY!!!

Well, not much else has happened. Work is still enjoyable, getting a bit more of a handle on it than I had maybe a month ago. Just enjoying being a regular joe for the first time in years... just going to work, coming home, having a weekend... Just a nomal, mundane, boring life.... And enjoying every minute of it!!!

Our little piece of Sydney

Our little piece of home. We would have taken the photograph ourself but as of yet we have spent our free time unpacking. Our unit is at the back, on the top floor of the block at the bottom of the hill. One day, one FINE day we may take an updated photograph... that is if it stops raining.
